A terrific fish to eat, swordfish is moist and flavorful with a slightly sweet taste. They have a firm, meaty texture and are rich and juicy. Swordfish’s meaty texture and mild flavor are two reasons for its popularity. In addition to good taste, swordfish offers a low-fat, low-calorie choice for health-conscious consumers. And don’t forget the heart-healthy benefits of swordfish: rich in omega-3 fatty acids and other vitamins and minerals.
Notes from our buyer
Galveston Bay is still shut down for Red Tide. With the small amount that was detected, and the new fresh water, we hope it will not be shut down much longer. The only oysters that come out of Texas from May 1 – October 31 are from leases in Galveston Bay. Since the bay is shut down, no oysters are being harvested from Texas since the closure.
American Red Snapper
ARS is very tight now. The fishermen in Mexico are fishing for Octopus which make the limited amount of Domestic very valuable. I hope to get some in for Saturday.

Tuna is very tight and expensive. I hope the full moon helps out in a couple of weeks.
I am ready for the new mahi season. I am hearing that this will be a good year, but I heard that last year. In reality, last year was a good season, but since all the frozen producers’ inventories were depleted, they were paying record prices for the fresh. Let’s hope their freezers are full this season. The mahi usually begins to run in late September/October.
Fresh domestic crab meat is tightening up a little. August is typically a rough month, so we hope to continue to see plenty of crab meat in the next few weeks.

Rainbow ‘Green’, Golden, and Ruby trout
Green trout is what the guys on the farm call the regular rainbow trout. Since they have Ruby and Golden as well, it is just a term they use to distinguish between the three. Our ‘Green’ trout is what every sales person calls Rainbow trout. Red and Golden continue to be very tight. The end is not in sight yet.
