 Gray Tilefish

As the secret ingredient on an episode of “Chopped Champions”, gray tilefish made a splash in the headlines and because a very delicious hit. The gray (or blue line) tilefish are one of two species of tilefish found in plenty in the Florida waters, with adults weighing an average of 10-25 pounds. Generally located in temperate waters, tilefish are bottom feeders with strong teeth. They feed on shrimp, crabs, shellfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, squid and occasionally fish. Because of their diet, tilefish are firm but tender white meat with a delicate sweet flavor. A very lean fish and perfect for the most select of menus.  #FrugeSeafood

Wild Salmon

Troll Caught Kings are available but pricey.  Also we have been bringing in some beautiful farmed raised Ora Kings although this product has been very limited as well.

East Coast Oysters

Several varieties of east coast oysters are available, including Chesapeake Bay, Naked Cowboys and James River.

Redfish

Redfish is a great farmed product for your menu. Quantities are increasing, and we are seeing some of the Jumbo fish already. Forecast look good for supplies in the coming months. Please get with your sales team and place your orders.

Halibut

Just landed from Alaska over 400lbs of halibut, prices are increasing as the supply is still tight but the larger fish are still available (40-60). This may be one of the last shipments that we see with the season winding down.

Cod, Sole, and Haddock 

Some great looking Cod, but the price is climbing back up this week. Also in house is some 4-6 oz. Lemon Sole. Get with your sale team as supplies may be tight.

Salmon

Chilean salmon prices have flatten out as we have seen the same price for two consecutive weeks.  We expect to see a jump next week with the holiday in Chile. We are also getting in large whole salmon from the North Sea, primarily from Faroe Islands.

Gulf Oysters

The Gulf is open and the labor force is back to work. We are seeing a good supply of sacks and even the supply of gallons are picking up. We expect to see selects gallons next week, although the price may still be a little high.

American Red Snapper

American red snapper is everywhere, supply has simply opened up on this product.  The price has dropped due to the amount available.  We are buying it directly off the boats with a team that is hand grading it for us. We can get you the size that you want, just ask!

Scallops

Scallop prices have taken a big jump.  We expect to see this price continue to climb until after the first of the year. There is a good supply of the larger scallops but it is tight on the smaller stuff.

Tuna

The market seems to be better this week with prices falling a little bit. We currently have both Big Eye and Yellow Tail in house. So if you looking for a higher oil content Big Eye is the way to go.

Mahi Mahi

Mahi supply is great, once again this week. The fish is very fresh and is a great menu option.

Grouper

Grouper prices are down a little; let’s hope this trend continues.  There seems to be a good supply of fish this week.

Our farmed striped bass is from right here in Texas, this allows us to give our customers the longest possible shelf life possible.  Prices have soften a little and we feel that they should remain stable through the end of the year.

Black Drum

Many of you may be considering black drum as an alternative to redfish.  As the temperature states to fall we are seeing a better supply of drum. This time of the year we seem to see more smaller fish 1-4 lbs.

The domestic crabmeat has started to pick up with the cooler weather.  Venezuela crab is off conservation and we expect to see a fall in the prices in the coming weeks due to a good supply in the near future.

Domestic Catfish

Our catfish is farmed right here in Texas.  Prices are on the steady rise as the supply is very tight. It appears to be tight for the remainder of the year, especially on the larger fillets.

Escolar, Opah, and Barracuda

Escolar and Marlin has landed this week from Hawaii! If there is something that you looking for from that regions let us know.

Seabass

We have a variety of seabass options.  We continue to carry H&G (20-30 kg) as well as a smaller 10-20kg if that is more of what you’re looking for. The Seabass is on the rise and will continue to increase as the Halibut season draws to an end. There seems to be a little delay in getting Seabass cleared into the US due to the government being shut down.

Live Lobsters

We offer a full range of sizes of live lobsters straight from Maine and Canada.  Order today, and we will get them to you tomorrow. Lobster prices are on the rise: lobster are moving into deeper water and not as active as before.

Rainbow ‘Green’, Golden, and Ruby trout

Ruby trout supply seems to remain tight. The low water supply this summer has created a shortage on the larger red meat fish from Idaho.  The water supply is back up now, and the product will be more plentiful in the near future.
