Frugé Aquafarms

At Frugé Aquafarms, our family-owned rice and crawfish farm in Louisiana, rice and crawfish work together in a unique, sustainable growing cycle. These two crops are alternated on the same land, creating the perfect environment for producing premium Louisiana crawfish.

Each year we harvest our rice crop between May and August, leaving the rice stalks behind in the fields. Once the rice is harvested, the ponds are flooded and transformed into crawfish ponds. The leftover rice stalks naturally become food for the crawfish, giving them the rich nutrients that help create the bold flavor Louisiana crawfish are known for.

Crawfish season is determined by nature, not the calendar. When the crawfish begin surfacing and reach the proper size, the season begins. We typically start seeing activity in November, but every year is different depending on water temperatures and conditions.

During crawfish season, our trucks run nonstop from our family-owned ponds in Louisiana to our distribution hub in Grand Prairie, Texas. From there, Frugé Seafood delivery trucks are dispatched daily to supply restaurants across Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma with premium, farm-raised Louisiana crawfish and fresh seafood.
